Prior to his current role Richard enjoyed careers as an Army Officer in the Royal Tank Regiment and a Police Officer with the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, entering both organisations via their Graduate Entry schemes.
In his last 4 years with the police, Richard headed the Security and Emergency Planning Branch at Headquarters, during which time he helped shape the Force response to the Eclipse, Millennium, Fuel Crisis and Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak. Additionally he was responsible for the Force Emergency Planning exercise programme and organised the security arrangements for several Royal Visits.
For the last 10 years Richard has been assisting clients with a variety of projects in the fields of Business Continuity, Emergency Planning and Security. These have included developing Incident Management Procedures, Business Continuity Management Systems, Pandemic Flu Plans and Counter Terrorism Security Procedures, conducting security audits and surveys, managing audits by Regulators, developing the security and emergency measures section of company business plans, conducting exercises and preparing scopes of work for physical and electronic security enhancements to assets.
In addition to his degree, Richard has a Diploma in Business Continuity Management obtained from Coventry University and is a Specialist of the Business Continuity Institute (SBCI).
